| | Back to the government's "RETROSPECTIVE LEGISLATION, TO MAKE WHAT WE DID LEGAL EVEN IF WE KNEW IT WAS DISHONEST, BILL". The latest is that the gov't claims that THE PUBLIC can have an input on the passing of this legislation. The following news item claims that, yet funnily enough there IS ABSOLUTELY NO PROVISION FOR THE PUBLIC TO COMMENT, AND THEY INTEND TO PASS THIS BILL ANYWAY. Let me explain: The claim that "the proposed legislation (they are ALREADY calling it a "law") "goes to the public" is made by: " we agree with Act's proposal for a SelectCommittee process to allow further input from experts and the public." Now that really is a joke, can anyone recall anything at all that has gone to selectcommittee, where the public have actually been listened to? Or even where the public has been able to "have a say". reasonably? Also why I say "INTEND" to pass this NO MATTER WHAT, is proven by the words: "Once the "fixit" law is passed police can resume ..." Here's some more absolutely incredible statements (gee the government must really think that Average "Joe Blow" - that's us by the way - is really stupid): "The Government has been forced to sidestep a Supreme Court ruling" And "Finlayson said the bill does not extend any powers that did not exist before the Supreme Court ruling." That statement is such an obvious lie, twisted logic and something you might expect a small child to believe - nobody else. It is obvious that these "powers" were not taken away by the supreme court, the supreme court pointed out that the "powers" did not exist at all, and the police were overstepping the mark and being amazingly dishonest, dishonest because they obviously KNEW that to be a fact. Now here's the most horrible, sinister statement of all: Next year, the Government hopes to pass the Search and Surveillance Bill to which will provide permanent regulations, including warrants specific to video surveillance.
